How to Choose the Perfect Engagement Ring in 2026
By Emily Henderson • Nov 5
Choosing an engagement ring can feel overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be.
Start with the diamond shape. Oval and elongated cushion cuts remain favorites for their elegance and finger-lengthening effect. Round brilliants continue to dominate for maximum sparkle.
Next, consider metal. Yellow gold is resurging in popularity for its warmth and vintage appeal. Platinum remains the choice for durability and long-term wear.
Think about lifestyle. Does your partner work with their hands? A low-profile setting may be ideal. Do they love bold statements? Consider a halo or hidden details beneath the center stone.
Most importantly, focus on meaning. The best ring isn’t the most expensive — it’s the one that reflects your partner’s personality.
An engagement ring marks the beginning of a lifetime. Choose one that feels like forever.

Really Good Affordable Or Splurge-Worthy Lamps
Y’all, there are a lot of lamps out there – many really, really good ones (although honestly so many seem to be over $200 these days, which is pretty wild). I really fell in love with all of these and tried to keep them affordable.
Wood and Fabric Shade Lamp: The grain of the wood with the shape of the wavy shade makes this so pretty, and still really easy to mix into almost any style. Very elevated for the price.
Blue Scallop Lamp: I love the playfulness and whimsy of this Schoolhouse lamp (and it comes in a few different colors and as a sconce).

Traviata Table Lamp: When you think you’ve seen every lamp…Sezane did it.
Handmade Striped Lamp: I have and adore this lamp by a local maker. Support small!!

Both of these lamps make such a statement for the lower price point. Hang the paper lamp in a corner to engage it, pull your eye over, AND add a really pretty ambient light. The black base is so sculptural, graphic, and will edge up any room (and every room needs a hit of black – and I promise this can be mixed with more traditional design).
